A 3 year old cat came in because he was having trouble using the litter box. It turned out that he was very painful in his legs. His body was laying new bone down all along the bones in all four of his legs. I've never seen anything like this. It can happen in animals that have a tumor in their chest, but is very uncommon in cats. We took x-rays of the cat's chest and sure enough he had a mass. His owners took him to Blue Pearl Veterinary Partners in Eden Prairie for a referral to see if there was anything that could be done. After an ultrasound and CT scan, it was determined that part of his liver, stomach and spleen were in his chest. He had a hernia in his diaphragm. The surgeon was able to fix the hole, so now it's just recovery time. It's wonderful when people are able to get a diagnosis and make their pets healthy.
